Tires.. How much do they contribute to car's performance?
#13
numbers...
Acceleration (1/4 mi): On a car with quattro, you won't see a difference. On a FWD car, maybe 0.1-0.2 sec with a good set of performance rubber, assuming the crappy tires leave you spinning at the line. If the crappy tires don't spin too much, don't expect much of a difference.
Slalom: Depends on the slalom, but if crappy tires netted you 65 seconds, a good set of tires should shave that by 2 seconds or so.
Lateral acc: Probably 0.1g+ improvement when comparing crappy a/s vs. high perf summer tires.

My point is....
Your Post was started with a headline of "Tires.. How much do they contribute to car's performance?"
I indicated they are in fact the first and primary contact your automobile has with whatever surface it is driving upon. If we have tires specific for snow, specific for summer and specific for wet, etc... would logic not tell you they are very important and have probably the most noticable impact on the driving expirience? The answer is yes to that and the fact that I can be an a$$hat.
Cheers and have a good day noob

why do you think there's a "subject" line AND a "message" box? you can answer that question for yourself by using your logic buddy. =]

Here's a tip...
Don't carry on a meaningless argument. There are at least 5 people in this thread that are local to you...which means they are not just online resources, they may one day be able to bail you out of a serious jam.
Be nice...even if it means biting your tongue. It will almost always pay dividends somewhere down the road.
Now let's stop posting in this thread. There is nothing more to discuss here.
