Tool question about removing drive axle?

So I'm gonna have my cv joint rebuilt tomorrow morning. I'm gonna try to pull it out tonight but I wanted to make sure I have all the right tools on hand. In the "how-to", I see the step for removing the 6 bolts that hold the axle on the tranny. What kind of tool do I need to remove these? Allen wrench or is it something else? The description says its a 8mm tripple square bit (12 pt). I'm not sure what this is and I can't see the pic very well.
Anything else I should be ready for? Any other tips/sugguestions?
Thanks in advance...

only you have 12 points on the bit, rather than the 6 (or whatever) on the torx bit. An auto parts store should sell a sell of triple square sockets.

autozone pretty cheap. I think you may need snap ring pliers...I don't remember what kind of CV Joint we have.

Autozone sells a multi-pack, with 3 or 4 different sizes.
Good luck

okay, thanks for the clarification. I do have some torx bits but wasn't sure if that is what I needed. I'll swing by the zone tonight...
Thanks!
Thanks!

I recently had to change my cv boot and had to pop off the cv joint, here is what you do.
after you get the joint out of the hub assembly, have some one go and press on the breaks so it locks us the axels since the other wheel is still on and the brakes are being applied to that wheel and axel.
Then use the old collar bolt, which should be replaced any way, and screw that into the axel.. just keep on turning and turning.
eventually the cv joint will pop off, much easier than removing the whole axel.
