Default Touch-up paint questions.

Hey, I just got some pearl white touch up paint from audi today, and was wondering what the steps were to fixing up the occasional paint chip. This is the first car I've owned that actually deserves touch-up paint.

I also have one really nasty etch in my hood, down to the metal. do i need to treat it differently?

Thanks!

Default People will notice it...(more)

take your car to a professional body shop, it'll cost around 150-300, depending on severity of scratch. It's much better than a touch up kit. You don't want to Sand the surface of your car to make it worse now do you?

Default Carcareonline.com has a good article....

I've followed carcareonline's advice about touch-up paint application for chips. I've also used Langka (langka.com) to remove the excess "blob", with good results. Someone has mentioned that using something like 3M Imperial Hand Glaze works just as well as Langka, at a fraction of the cost.
Pearl paint may involve an extra step, to apply the "pearl" layer. I'm not sure. One thing I do know: Don't even think about using the brush that comes with the Audi touch-up paint kit!

Carcareonline.com: How to repair paint chips

Default if it's for stone chips you can use...

a toothpick rather than using that blunt paintbrush tip. clean area before application. apply light coats rather than one big glob. have fun!

Default Check out langka...

I just bought it... but it's too cold to use it. Sounded cool though..

It's under link/part accessories page.
