Default Tranny mount change complete!

So finished installing both tranny mounts. In the last 2 weeks i have changed my tranny and engine mounts. I took a spin around the block and shifting is much more crisp. I will have to report more later as i have CV boot leaking and i didn't want to drive too much until i can fix that.

I couldn't find any info on changing tranny mounts on a 1.8. I used a write up on changing 2.8 mounts for the passenger side mount. That one was easy. The drive side mount was a total bitch. I ended up having to take the whole bracket out that attached the mount to the tranny. Then when i got that out i took a blow torch and heated the bastard up. It was hard to get out because the rubber inside the mount would twist while you were turning the bolt. I got some good pics. I will write something up later.

Thanks to everyone who answered some question for me. Could not have done any of this work without Audiworld!

Ken

Default Congrats....

I just did the trans mounts on our 30v last week with simlar results. Shifting was markedly improved. Motivated me to do the clutch & diff mount in a couple weeks.

Which mount did you use? I thought I read some where that an Allroad trans mount could be used.

Default Allroad mounts will work for the passenger side...

I upgraded mine to a 2.8 mount. I don't think its any difference though. They looked exactly the same. The Allroad is bigger so you have to buy a new bolt for it. Search for that. I found a lot on that. I am not going to take my car to stage 2 or 3 so i didn't need an upgrade. The driver side mount cannot be upgraded on 1.8.

I changed the fluids over to Redline, MTL in the trans(because we live in a cold area), and MT-90 in the diff. They made a big difference. Just changed out 3 of the wheel bearings as well, it really tightened things up.
