Tranny swap (tip to manual)
Hey,
Has anyone swapped a tiptronic/auto tranny to a manual tranny? I want to do this because the tip tranny cannot hold much power (or torque) and tip tranny is really bad on a turbo car (no boost 'till 3000rpm and you cannot rev the engine).
Anyway, how much does a manual tranny cost? How much for a swap? Who does this?

you can find a 2.8 tranny for a pretty good price (under 1K) if you look around.....
yes, I know of one person that did it. He also knew a ton about his car. I think its a fairly intensive process.

It just won't happen. You could source the parts used for I'd guess around $3-4k, but if you had to pay someone to do the labor, forget it. There's some custom work that will also be required (welding and other things you just probably havn't thoguht of).

theirs only 1 kindaTranny swap U gonna be able to do & I ain't talkin bout cars.No seriously,
its was done long ago by I forget the tuner, when we were A4.org its in the news or article section somewhere it looked like a real PITA, but possible none the less. You could always opt for strengthening up your Tip (levelten.com) & going w/PES turbo upgrade. Some here have done so with positive results & lots more hp. Do a search lots of info about both subjects I'm sure
