Default Trans is shifting poor ---- change the fluid?

My transmission shift very poorly from 1st to 2nd, esp when it is cold out. So I figure changing the fluid would help and I'm not sure if it has been done before...

so the question is, what is everyones favorite fluid of choice??

I saw a post that someone had used royal purple and then switched to M1 and was much happier. My local supplier has the full line of Redline fluids, but overall I'm not sure what would be best.

The car is a chiped 1.8 w/ a MT if that matters....

Default With this...I haven't tried everything.

I have used stock fluid and the MT-90. I went MT-90 because of the glowing reviews from TONS of people. Im happy I made the switch. In really cold weather the redline can make the first few shift a little sluggish. Once the car warms up its fine. The up-side is the hot-weather shifting is MUCH improved and offers much more protection.

CF4L can you let us know if the fluid change works? I have the exact same issue - i've had it for years (1st to 2nd, and much worse in the cold weather). Shop I took it to (Autobauhn East) said the fluid change wouldn't do anything and likely internal damage. Also that the fluid is ment to be lifetime. Thanks.
