Transmission downshifts from 5th to 4th at highway speeds
I am having an intermittent problem with my 01 tiptronic transmission. At highway speeds the transmission will downshift for no reason to a lower gear. After I drive a while in the manual mode it corrects itself for a short time. I have not seen this problem talked about ...any help appreciated.

i had that problem with my tip chip
i had a bad socket for the chip causing the tranny to downshift from 5th to 4th.i dont remember if it gave any codes or not. have it checked out by your mechanic (or tuner if you have the tipchip).
