Transmission problem: 99 A4 1.8T 5S

For the last month or so I have noticed that when I lift off the accelerator in 4th or 5th gear, the car will occasionally "lurch" as the transmission becomes unloaded. It seems to happen more frequently when I'm cruising in traffic and gently lift off the pedal. I have had this car since new and have never noticed this problem before. There are no other shifting problems or noises associated with this. It just causes a lurch or jolt right at the moment that the transmission becomes unloaded. The frustrating part is that it is not easily repeatable nor is the lurch as severe from time to time.
I left my car with the dealership for the last two days while I was out of town. Several people drove it but were unable to duplicate the problem. I took the service manager for a 10 minute drive and he felt what I was talking about. He thinks it could be "normal" but I have never driven any other car that does this and mine didn't start doing this until recently. To his credit, he is going to call Audi to get their opinion.
What do you think? Any help would be greatly apppreciated.
