Default Trouble... My check engine light came on flashing... pulled over after driving 100 feet turned it

off and tried again... The car stuttered a lot and feels odd. I ended up getting it towed.
I checked the codes:
VAG-COM Version: Release 311.2-N

Control Module Part Number: 4B0 906 018 CH
Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT G 0002

2 Faults Found:
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0301 - 35-00 - -

I cleared them and drove it around the block and there are no codes. It still feels odd... TBA looked OK...
What could this be ICM, Coilpacks, The 8oz 2 cycle oil in my gas?

TIA.

Default

sounds like a coilpack failure to me.

I have found posts about coilpack failures and a class action lawsuit... Any info on that one?

Default sorry, i don't have any info on that.

most people around here keep an extra coilpack in the car, just in case, though. i don't, but probably should. i've had one coilpack go on me before, too. easy fix, though.

Default I foresee a trip to the dealership this afternoon. I just need to know what to buy and how many...

If it may be the ICM I would need one of those as well...

Default 01 cars do not have a ICM. You need 1 coil pack to replace the one

currently on cyl 1 and I believe the version for the 01 is "R"

Default Switch the coilpack first. It's the R revision part #. Get 2 and keep 1 as a spare.

Swap it with the cylinder 1 pack and if that doesn't work at least you know to look elsewhere. If you can afford it, just swap all 4 out. My first pack died about 3 months ago.

Default No ICM for you, the functionality of the ICM is built into the coilpacks for 01.

Just get a couple CP's from the dealer.

Default Thanks. I did a search and found 06B-905-115-R for the part number.

I think I'll get one today and order more through Carson just to be safe and keep the good old ones for spare. If there's a recall will send the bill to AoA. Btw. there's a warranty extension on the ECT sensors for 2001-2004 models.
