Default they still wear out, just more evenly....

If you properly rotate tires on a FWD or a RWD, they should last as long as tires on a quattro. And even on a quattro, tires should be rotated, because the front ones wear out quicker anyway - all the turning is done with the front.

Default In the sense that AWD cars tend to slip less, so you won't wear the tires

when they normally would skid. Also, you tend to not get as close to the slipping point when you put power down, since it's distributed more evenly among the tires.

Default good point - it's hard to make quattro skid when taking off -

burning the clutch would be easier than spinning the wheels ;-)

Default Yeah, I lose my fronts real fast, esp. with the lower suspension.

Thumbs up on the dancing bananas, BTW

Default I would say the AWD will have less effect on tire wear than driving style and suspension.

As I mentioned above, the AWD really just prevents unneccessary wear. As an example, I still tend to burn through tires unbelievably fast, but I drive in city traffic somewhat agressively and have lowered my A4. The lowering really chews up my fronts, so I try to rotate often.

Default Hydroplaning resistance. Basically how well the tire's tread removes water from underneath.

This is different from wet traction, which is only applicable when the rubber is actually in contact with the road
