Is it true that since we have quattro - the tires do not wear out as much? -for only those who know!

If you properly rotate tires on a FWD or a RWD, they should last as long as tires on a quattro. And even on a quattro, tires should be rotated, because the front ones wear out quicker anyway - all the turning is done with the front.

when they normally would skid. Also, you tend to not get as close to the slipping point when you put power down, since it's distributed more evenly among the tires.

As I mentioned above, the AWD really just prevents unneccessary wear. As an example, I still tend to burn through tires unbelievably fast, but I drive in city traffic somewhat agressively and have lowered my A4. The lowering really chews up my fronts, so I try to rotate often.

This is different from wet traction, which is only applicable when the rubber is actually in contact with the road
