Default trying to determine where the drivetrain slop is coming from

when shifting hard, the power doesn't seem to get to the wheels right away like it does in other B5's I've driven in and nothing close to as it does in my NA S2000. With a hard 1st to 2nd shift I can definitely feel/hear a clunk from the rear end which makes me think it's time for a new diff mount or maybe the stern power ring. I've replaced the motor mounts with S4s, the tranny mounts with 034, and have an APR snub that is a few years old. What I have to look at would be the condition of my snub mount and rear diff mount. Another option would be to try a DTS. Any simple way to determine which would be most helpful in tightening things up in my car? My first thought it rear diff mount based on the perceived clunk from the rear end on hard shifts. Which mount do people prefer...apikol or stern?

Default do you have a stern?

I am afraid of trying to band aid the problem if the rear mount is bad and I install the stern.

Default I agree but short on cash. Doing both probably won't happen right away

so I'm thinking upgrade the rear diff mount first, then go with the DTS in the spring. I'm wondering if the rear bushings are worth upgrading as well. My car has 135k miles on it.

Default I did the power ring, but it had a bushing kit in as well, and all other tranny/motor mounts +DTS

The bushing kit and power rng did a good job though. I did all mounts and rings + JHM shifter stuff at one time, about 2 hours work.

Default did you have a ton of slop before doing all that work?

my car has 135k miles on it. I'm not sure where this excessive slop is coming from. I really should have a look at the snub and make sure it's in once piece. Thanks.

Default I did not consider it to be a ton, until I replaced everything

I had real issues with shifting esp. a quik 1-2 shift, but whole thing was sloppy. Everything got tight, but it really should when replacing everything. I am tickled, and thought 1 trip under car to do mounts would be enough. Glad I did it all at 1 tme, but I didnt really learn much abt. condition of any 1 part.

I think I'll try the Stern and see how it goes
