97 1.8t. upgraded to k04, upgraded neuspeed software. no boost. I here turbo spooling but no boost. I used oem wastegate could this be my problem? Car ran fine intell I upgraded.

I had the same exact problem, the car felt like it was going fine and I could hear the turbo spool but the boost gauge would not show any boost. The problem was an easy fix, it was a cracked rubber coupler near the back of the engine which caused a vacuum leak. just move the hoses and couplings around while the cars on to hear a air leak sound. I changed the 8 dollar coupling and everything was fine. It was the coupling that is near the top that has 3 connections going to it. sorry not sure what the correct name is.

Or did you have to swap it from your old turbo? Where did you buy the turbo without a wastegate?
