Turbo makes rattling sound@ around 3000 rpm in 2nd gear only????

Any power problems?
....if so it could be a broken wastegate rod (ask me how I know!).

I have only had my car for two months, I don't think there is any dramatic power loss, but it does seem like it has lost a bit of power but then again it could be me... Could this bypass valve be the problem?

I don't know much about the bypass valve....
....doesn't sound like a broken wastegate rod (mine failed around the 20,000 mile mark). Total loss of "power" as the car turned into a normally-aspirated 1.8 liter.

This is an emerging problem with late 2000 A4's and TT's.
My service manager let me know about it. It's the recirc valve on the turbo. They've redesigned it. The dealer's ordered me a replacement, but I don't think there's a TSB out yet. Sounds like a rattle, whistle (not turbo whine), coke bottle sounds, etc. only on low to moderate boost.

Im pretty sure its the turbo the noise only comes at the beginning of boost it starts to rattle and then sounds normal in the rest of the gears.
