Default turbo question

I have a 2001 a4 1.8t, and just put a new ko3 in about 10,000 miles ago. My turbo sounds real loud. Like an air compressor with an open line. It sounds as it did before it went out last time. it couldn't be out in only 10,000 miles right?

Default did you put the new turbo in or did a shop?

How many miles are on the car? Did the turbo just go or was it a wastegate problem? There may be an oil sludge sort of issue with the oil lines to the turbo. That would be the first place I would look if my turbo was dying under that low of a mileage.

Default The shop replaced............

they put a new wastegate, but not sure about the oil lines. i would think that they would though. I might as well take it to the shop, just as long as the lines are covered on the warranty. I have 85K on the car

Default a new turbo will come with a wastegate

but did the shop tell you the actual failure of the original turbo? If it was just the wastegate, tnen that could be replaced without replacing the entire turbo. What starting nothing is getting at is if you had a clogged oil line or some oil issue with the old turbo, then you might have had an oil seal go in the CHRA of that turbo and that would cause the turbo to be a little louder.
