Default two questions . . turbo/wastegate . . SMIC . . long, sorry but I appreciate all and any input

First, I have read plenty post about rattling coming from the turbo and most replies have been broken waste gate rod, check to see if your waste gate rod is loose, etc. I am experiencing the same thing with the rattling. I hear a rattle after giving it some throttle. I still dont know everything about the KO3's and my question is, where is the waste gate rod located so I can check it? (show me a pic maybe) Also, if it is loose or broken, what do I do about it, do I replace the whole turbo or can the rod be replaced or what else? Yes I STFA and its on my 99.5 1.8TQTip

Second, Is it possible to have dual (two) SMIC? I have and extra SMIC for a 1.8T with the rubber tubing and I was thinking of what I could do with it, if it could be put to use or just hold on to it in case something happens to my current one. I was thinking If I would take my extra one, mount it upside down on the passenger side and fit some tube from the turbo to it. Would this work or is it a waste? I STFA and I pretty much came up with its been discussed numerous times but never pulled off.

Thanks in advance.
