My 99.0 has it. It may be 98.5 and older that doesn't have the padding.

Default anyone tried this?

I've driven with my hood popped (not open) just a crack and the engine sounded LOUD!(like an exhaust leak (well more so than what my real leak already sounds like) I got the underhood padding and I wanted to take it off (heard it traps in heat) but I am wondering if the engine will sound louder without that stuff(but still have the seals on the hood)

Default i wouldnt remove it...

sure it traps heat in.

but...

when i was replacing my hood this past summer, i was driving around with-out the padding for a few days.

without the padding, the hood was VERY hot to the touch...so hot i could not keep my hand on it. think about what that could do to the paint after awhile. in contrast, with the padding the hood is cool to the touch.

Default my car is plenty loud, a hood liner isnt going to make any discernable difference.

I took it off during one of my weight reducing fits.

Default Have you ever left a black car out in the sun on a HOT summer day

then tried to touch it?

Take a think about just how hot that gets then tell me that you think your engine can convect that much heat up into the hood. Something tells me that the thermonuclear reaction called our SUN will make the hood a bit hotter than your engine.
