Default The Unstoppable Audi Alarm Problem

For the past few nights my 2001 Audi A4 alarm has decided to go off randomly (and repeatedly). No open windows, no wind, or tremors around (so I don't want to hear from ultra-sensitive interior motion detector theorists - anyway I've disabled that too).

Despite seeing numerous reports on various web sites I have found no definative answers. I've confirmed the doors, windows, sunroof, hood, trunk, & gas filler door are locked. I've pulled the horn and anti-theft alarm fuses in and attempt to prevent it going off. No success. Wouldn't you know there is a horn associated specifically with the alarm!

One final piece of data; after these events started whenever I enable the alarm - I do NOT get a confirmation "beep" or flashers.

So, now the car is silent with the battery disconnected - and my neighbours have put away their pitchforks! What're my options other than going to the dealer/stealer? HELP!!

Omar..

Default Find said other alarm an remove, and after you do email me an let me know where it is (m)

so that I might replace mine with something a bit more shocking than the eh, eh, eh I get when My alarm goes of.

Default Re: could it be.....

I wish it was that simple... this has happened in my driveway and a store 5 miles from home (same day).

Default Have you checked your door and hood contacts? If you're horn isn't confirming the locking...

something isn't closing properly.

Default Alarm horn in trunk, behind tool box/cd changer, I think it's one wire that connects to it

gets ground from mounting bolt

Default Strictly on the no horn/flash confirmation..

..I just went on about this a few weeks ago. It ended up being my hood switch cable was severed by the fan. Go figure it was there for 3 years for OO but 3 weeks in my hand I managed to severe it.

So what I've learned (thanks Nathan) si as long as you've programmed codes correctly in VAG (I used 16236) then you need to start checking your door switches.

Oh teh hood switch is normally open.
