Default Update on low then surging boost. FYI for people with Bailey BPVs

So the other day, I had a problem with boost in my car. It would hit 5 psi or so up to around 4.5k rpm then shoot to the normal peak of 20 psi after that. I was thinking it was either a stuck throttle or BPV. Couldn't be a stuck wastegate as in that case, boost would likely surge in the beginning, then dump it all at once.

Anywho, the problem was with the BPV. I had thought the BPV was one solid piece of metal, but it turns out the side connector that hooks up to the intercooler hose can screw loose. I found this out as I unhooked the hoses and looked inside to see if anything was in there or if the valve was stuck. As it was in my hand, that part came off and dropped. Glad it was a simple problem and not some bigger issue.

My hands, as usual, got cut the hell up again from going through the car. Don't know about you guys, but any time I have to do anything with my car, my hands always come out cut up.

Yesterday's thread

You win half a cookie since it wasn't exactly bad, but just loose. ;-)

Default That's odd - which part unscrewed?

The one in the foreground, right-hand pane in the pic below?

The tube on the side. You can see in the second picture that it's not one piece.

I can't imagine how that can come unscrewed by itself... did it screw back on?

Default Yeah, it did. I couldn't figure out how it came undone either, but not a big problem...

I got the usual cuts on my hand from getting at my BPV, but no biggie. Unscrewed BPV is better than if I had a throttle issue, software, or some other bigger issue...
