Default Upper Guide Link Question

So i have to replace my upper guide links (a.ka) control arm. I have most of it apart. The round end that connects to the shock tower is unbolted. But however i can not seem to get the other end unbolted. The part where the control arm slides in to the stearing nuckle. There is one long bolt thats kinda squeezes together to hold the control arm in place. I got the nut off of the end but can not seem to get the bolt out to realease the guide link. My question...is the bolt completly threaded through or does it slide out once the nut is unbolted. Because i cannot turn the bolt nor get it to slide out. Any help or sugestions would be highly apreciated. I have soaked it with penitrating oil for two days but that seams to do nothing. By the way my car is a 99 a4 quattro..

Default You're not alone.

It's by far one of the most stubborn bolts on the car.
Penetrating oil may help, but brute force and heat usually are the only solutions.

Default the tool of choice to remove that bolt (N-034-790-7)

is the air hammer.

it is only partially threaded and the hole it goes through is NOT threaded... the bolt somehow seats itself in there and never wants to come out. Removal of it 99% of the time requires replacement of the bolt and nut.

torch would be the easiest. I was able to get mine out without heat but it took hours of pounding.

Default the bolt is pretty easy to come by. put a little anti seize gunk in there for next time

because it's an Audi front end so there WILL be a next time.
