Default Is there ANY oil in the sump, or is it just way low?

I can't imagine a car losing that much oil with no leaks, and no smoke. How does the coolant look?

Default Christian has some good ideas - you do have a strange situation.

Keep track of how fast you have to add oil and how much. If you were burning it - I would definitely expect to see smoke.

Default coolant is fine, perfectly green. there is probably 1-2 quarts of oil in it, after having it full..

just a month ago! reason it alarmed me today is because my oil light flashed again.

Default Well, it has to be going somewhere. For it to burn that much oil, you would see smoke, no question.

For it to leak that much in that short of a time you would see drips. Are you absolutely sure that the garage put the right amount of oil in? the 2.8 takes over 5 qts of oil..

Default yeah, Dubwerks thought that was it the first time, so they refilled it perfectly....

Default Hmm. Time for a plug check, and compression/leakdown test..

it has to be burning off somehow. You have looked under there, and see no oil?

FYI, your coolant should not be green. You need G12 coolant which is pink in color. Green is no good for Audis and Volkswagens!

Green is the coolant you need for the 96, correct?
