Default V71? flap position motor help....

Think this might be the cause of my AC runing cold/hot/cold/hot all the time...No fault code recorded in normal operation, gave in and dropped into the dealer...who confirmed no codes...we did a re-gas (first in 7 years so not going to hurt) and it's cooler, but the cold/hot cycle remains.

Ran an output test and all run OK, but one motor does click a little...then tried the basic settings...and that creates a code on the V71/G113....

Are these motors all the same? Anyone got a part number... this is for an '01.5 B5. UK 2.4 but can't think they differ...

Or any other suggestions appreciated...

Default Has the compressor been tested? How well does the ux fan work?

Replacing both of those items fixed a similar problem with my AC.

Default Re: Has the compressor been tested? How well does the ux fan work?

It all runs very well, plenty of air, nice and cold....

The issue is I'll set it to say 19, out comes very cold air as it cools the cabin...then after a random period of time i get a very short blast of hot air, and it then continues with the ice cold air.

I get a similar effect when in ECON, it blows away then a shot of hot then back to cool...

It's very brief, but long enough to feel it hit you in face if you follow me...

I've sat watching the data in VCDS, and what it looks like is every so often one of the sensors shoots up - as a result of the hot air passing it, and then back down again. What I've yet to work out is if I can see any of these flaps data change with the cycle.

You can just hear one or more of these motors running, and it does seem to match up with the heat blast. Almost like the hot air blows one of these flaps open when it should be closed....

Dealer is at a loss, other than starting to swap out these motors - but they have told me that may not help...almost honest :-)

Do these flaps seal tight? Could it be one leaking in some way?

V71 is the only one I can generate a code on....and then it's only when a basic is run.

Any thoughts good people???

Default A thought...

Perhaps it's not electronic at all. When was the last time your restrictor was changed?

Default No.

The restrictor is a part that is installed internally to the AC system, such that refrigerant runs through it. In the case of a component failure, it keeps broken pieces from circulating through the system (theoretically)... It is a cheap, common maintenance item.

Default OK.so...

do you have a part number for that. Must admit it's not one I knew about, not ever been changed to my knowledge, and can't see it in the old magic software...

I't driving me nuts....and I've noticed it coming up quite a bit as a recent theme in some of the UK forums...we're having our 3 days of the year heat-up!!

Many thanks
