Default vac line under intake manifold...

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/Vaclayout.gif">

I need to replace the line going from 24 to 23.
Anyone know the size of it? (And the clamp to go along) I have plenty of 5/32" vacuum hose that I got from Pep Boys. However, it's just rubber. (That hose looks smaller than the 5/32" vacuum hose going from the bpv to solenoid)

Not that fancy braided kind that Audi uses. Does this matter?

Also, I'm replacing the DV to solenoid hose, but that thing is a bitch to get to. Anything other than removing the coolant reservoir to get to it? (I have the regular screw on clamps, will I be able to screw them on in that space? Or just go get the audi clamps from somewhere? Where to get?)

A shop quoted me $50 to put in the vac line, since I'm just stumped as to get my hands in there. And taking out the intake manifold would be fun and all, but for just one hose I'm not gonna waste my time.

Its fairly easy to change...if you have small hands.. your 5/32" line is good.

2nd that. You can also disconnect the hose going to the throttle body to give you more room..

From what I've been told, that braided fabric is just Nomex for fire-retardance. Use your hose.

Default Really? Zip ties? Is that safe? It won't melt? I'm skeptical

I think i have a place to wedge a screw driver in there... maybe... i'll try the screw clamp

ive heard that putting in the same type of one-time use clamp in that area is a bitch.

Default What about the size??? Hose is smaller than dv hose...

The hose going from 23 to 24 looks smaller than the hose coming from the diverter valve.

Do I use 5/32" vac or a smaller size?

Please advise.

Default if u get it the clamps on the hose, u can try screwing it in from the top right by the dipstick

u can sort of see the hose at that angle.

other then that, remove all sensor stuff and give it ur best shot.

3.5 mm silicone hose is what I use. That's 0.1378 inch.
