Default VAG can't communicate with my ABS module...

No response.

Although the ABS lights only come on 50% of the time and the ABS works the other 1/2 of the time.

Modulemasters time?

Default yup. unplug the module when the beeping starts driving you crazy.

understand the brake bias shifts to the rear when the module fails/is unplugged.

Is pulling one from a junkyard down the street considered too risky?

Default When it's remanufactured it's 'improved' to not fail ever again..

so the junkyard option is either just buying a bit more time or you might end up installing yet another defective module. It's well worth having it rebuilt. I did it with BBA and couldn't have been happier.

Default Used modulemaster here

Pull the thing, seal up the connectors to keep water out while you drive, send it in. They send it back, problem solved.

If you get a junker, it will just do the same thing again. There's some kind of solder joint failure to the solenoids, I think.
