Default vag3287a

Hello all:

Does anyone know if the vag3287a ball joint puller is the same as the matra 3287a??? I just want to make sure before I purchase one.

Default Yep. The VAG one I have is stamped Kukko, but it had a label with Matra on it...

Default are your ball joints shot or just squeaky?

curious cause i had a squeaky ball joint and used a needle grease injector to fix it.

Default I might...

I think I just want the tool in my drawer. I've got something squeaking in my front suspension. It's a metal to metal squeaking, and it gets a LOT worse when it's wet out. I've already inspected the upper arms, and they are fine, so that leaves the tie rod and the lower ball joint. I glanced at the tie rod and it seems fine, so next time I'm fiddling with the brakes, I'm going to look for a tear in the boot around the ball joint. I really hope I find something because this is driving me nutz!

Default ahhhhhhhhh...$126?!??? WTF?

Okay, I'm feeling a sense of deja vu here...maybe I've priced this out before...but anyway, WTF? There is NO way this is a $126 tool!

Default I paid right around $100 for it.

It's a very substantial piece, much larger than it looks. The hex head is a 24mm...

Default *sigh*

Isn't there some generic ball joint removal tool that will work? What's the critical measurement on that tool that I need to look for? Fork width? 30mm?
