Default VAGed my car...

Said I had a bad O2 sensor. Is this something I should immediately get fixed? Most likely a n00b question, but I am a n00b at 16 posts =O.

Default not something that needs to be fixed right away...

it is ok to drive and all, but you may have emission testing problems

Default Depends...if it was for a "sensor 1", yes, fix it asap.

If it was for sensor 2, drive as long as you like. The second sensor is only used to light up the CEL on your dash if it thinks you're polluting the environment. Sensor 1 is used as a feedback to determine air/fuel mixtures fed into the engine. I'm not sure what the ECU would do if the sensor is dead...but the potential to feed the engine a lean mixture is there, and that's bad for the engine.

Default Hrm...well my GF bro did it and he just cleared the code...

I forget the code # and the which sensor it was. If i take my car in for service will the dealership detect the failing O2 sensor even if the fault code was erased?

Default Why would you blindly erase a code?

No, the dealer won't detect anything unless the code is present. Drive around, and rescan the ECU until the code comes back. Then search the archives for that code to see what info you can dig up.
