Default Valve Body Part No. 01V 927 3598

Can anyone tell me what this part is, what id does and if I can get a used one instead of having to pay $1750.00 Cdn?
I have a 98 A4 1.8T Q (tip), i have had issues with uncontrolled engine revs between shifts. Then gear then (for lack of a better description) 'SLAM' together. Also cruising at highway speeds the tach jumps up and down 400 or so rpm's. All of the shifting issues happen on upshifts, never downshifts. I have had then car in to a few different delaers with no luck. There are no codes found.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to drop close to $3000.00 to find this doesn't fix my problems

Default Ouch! I wouldn't spend that on a "maybe"!

It sounds to me like a transmission problem, though I have extremely limited knowledge of the tip. I don't know what the Valve Body is, but it sounds to me like an engine parts. I would start by checking all tranny/engine mounts for play, damage, and deterioration. I would also look where the tranny mounts to the engine, and possibly at the torque converter if equipped. Because there are no codes, I would guess it's a mounting/mating issue... Have you done any fluid changes lately? Possibly using synth? Any new leaks around the time this started?

I am chipped. Have been for some time. About a year after being chipped the problems started so i have my doubts it the ECU. I also have a spare ECU and the problem persists when used. I (and so have the vaious Garages) checked all the fluid levels, checked for leaks, and all of the jazz. No metal in the fluids, no burnt smell or anything.

You are right, i wouldn't spend that much cash on a maybe, so i need to do more investigating.

What a pain though. I've already spent too much on diagnostics.

Default What good are other forum members if you can't use them :)

Sorry- must have read your post a little too fast- missed the 'chipped' part. I would volunteer to help if I were in your area, but I am not a transmission-savvy person... I would recommend finding someone with a VAG-COM who wouldn't mind working with you on diagnosing the problem- most people on this forum don't seem to charge much, and it would certainly be cheaper than going back to a dealer. Do you have a Bentley? A 3-day subscription is $20!

I have a VAG - COM from Ross-Tech and there are no codes. None of the dealers or other techs were able to find any either.

I'm sure i'll figure it our eventually.

Default Look to Level Ten for performance trans parts

The valve body controls the flow of the fluids in the trans, which in turn controls how it shift. Of course the valve body is now computer controled. Check on L10 home page reman valve body US $795 modified for better performance.

linky
