Default Valve cover gasket

I am doing my timing belt etc this weekend and want to do the valve cover gasket now too, anyone have a good place to get it from for the 1.8t. preferably not the dealer

Default depends on how mechanically inclined you are....

It's a 1 by my standards I guess. Piece of cake. Just make sure you get everything out of the way so that it can easily slide on and off the studs vertically. It's making sure everything is out of the way that is the hard part. I had to have my roomate hold some of the EGR tube out of the way so I could slide it in and off.

Default i'd say the number one thing to do is clean the crap out of the valve cover before removing.

something about grains of sand falling directly on the cams gives me a bad feeling.

Default I don't know if others did this...

but I spread a small THIN layer of High Temp RTV on all the mating surfaces.

Plus, your valve cover should be somewhat clean...you know...because you are **** about that stuff and clean your engine bay

i followed bentley and just put the rtv in the corners.
