Default Valve Lifter Replacement
Does anyone know how big of a job is it to r&r the valve lifters on a 98 A4 2.8?

Valve lifters are not a common failure item. Why are you doing them?

Default I hear pretty noticable ticking coming from right underneath the head
i cant think of anything else that would make that ticking sound. I know its not the injectors i know what they sound like.

Default How's your oil pressure? Any sludge in the engine? Clean oil?
I'd try a flush of some sort if your pressure is good.

how can i check the oil pressure? and no there is no sludge the oil is clean.

Default camshaft tensioner....
does it just do it at idle/warmup ... or through the entire rpm range.
