Default Valve stem leaking air - any quick fixes? ....

So, after putting my summer rims back on, I noticed one is leaking air.

Does the tire have to be dismounted in order to put a new valve stem on (I have an extra one)?

Is there anything I can try myself before paying a shop to do the tire dismount/mount, valve stem install, and wheel balance?

Thanks!

Default if it is oon the middle or close to the top of the stem then...

get one of those chrome valve covers and silicone it to the the stem. It should come off easy when you decide to repair it. if it's low or to high on the stem, you have to dismount the tire and replace it. it's a quick fix.

Default yeah, I have the chrome valve covers, and when I screw it on, I don't hear the air leak any more...

but it's probably still leaking a little - I'd hate to run out of air when I'm driving so I figured it needs to be fixed.

for now make sure that its not leaking by pouring soapy water on it, you'll see the bubbles

No Discount Tire in my area. Besides, I'm not sure I'd trust them with my rims :-)

Default Yep...just put the summers back on and for some reason one of the cores was leaking...

2 twists of the valve core tool and it's gone.

you think all tire shops have this tool, so there'd be no need to dismount the tire?
