Presently, my car is bone stock, non sport package. I was thinking of tightening up the handling by going to an Eibach/Bilstein setup. But, some of the tuners now say that the variable rate springs aren't the way to go, and suggested I consider linear rate springs such as H and R.<p>Any input on this?

If your car is a commuter car and comfort is of concern, then variable rate is the best choice. I used to have coil-overs on my old Eclipse and the springs I used were linear rated. Great for the track, but horrible over rough roads.
