Default the volt gauge is at 16 volts!?

so im driving to work today and i look down and its reading 16 volts..all the way to the right. I pull over to get gas and check it out, now its fluctuating between 14-16, but usually stays a bit higher then its norm. Anyone know what the problem is?

Can you use a VAG to verify gauge vs block reading. I can't remember if it's 4 or 5

It's part of the brush pack, on the alternator.

Default If it is the regulator...I would suggest not driving the car until the alternator/regulator is ...

replaced. I'm not certain what happens if it overcharges the batt...but I don't think it's a pleasant scenario.

Default Why? Can't replace just the brushes/regualtor any more??

I have not had the pleasure on an A4, but you should be able to replace just the regulator.
