went to take a look at the car. Notice the temp would shoot up. Everything looks OK under the hood, but there is no coolant circulating through the overflow return line. Also no heat even though it's hot. I'm thinking water pump. Agree?

I think that his block uses the internal water pump and if that lil feller locks up (its driven by the timing belt) I'd imagine things could get interesting rather quickly.
Lets hope the impeller snapped off of the shaft.

Like waht happened to our 2002 Jetta. The coolant temp gauge was irradic and tripped the CEL. It turned out to be a bad coolant temp sensor. I decided to spend the 10 bucks and do it myself in a few minutes rather than go to VW and have the car checked in and be SOL without a car. Sometimes it is worth it to fix on your own and not bother with the warranty. But, if it is a pain in the *** like changing the pump and it is still under warranty...of course it is wise to hit em up on it.
