Default A warning to those giving advice about what things to get for our cars...

If you are not 100% sure about the validity of your solution, it can be harmful to the person you're giving it too...

CASE IN POINT: I asked about which fluid to use for power steering? I got the answer, Pentosin CHF-11 from someone. This is incorrect. Pentosin CHF-11, as I've been informed by an Audi VAG Engineer, is a hydraulic fluid for specially designed pumps, specifically Porsches. Using this fluid will shorten the life of internal components in Audis (due to a difference viscosity and operating temperature). The proper fluid is G00080.

Default yeah sure no problem. But when ppl see I have the updated platform, or even

when I say I have a 96, it doesn't mean it applies necessarily to my car. Suggesting that I use Pentosin is a wrong assumption because it WILL cause damage to my steering assembly. My arguement is that next time soneone is quick to make a suggestion just for the sake of seeing their name on the board, they should really think about whether it really solves the problem. On the other hand, I also am suggesting everyone DOUBLEcheck all suggestions with a certified/qualified mechanic when it comes to vital vehicle components (not like fogs or something).

Default "I" gave you that information...

...and "I" know it was "correct" information.

I have not a care in the world for some dumbass "Audi/VAG Engineer" who says its not to be used. This is comming from the same *******s who will pull heads open for a valve check before checking coilpacks on a misfire.. I know its the right stuff, not saying you cant use G80, but CHF-11S is far superior than G80. Check the archives before you go accusing me of giving false information.

Actually, the proper fluid is G00200, and the CHF 11s is the same stuff. Made by Pentosin.
