Warning to those that are running the TT valve.

Today at the drags juan ran his GTI and came back into the pits after a run and told me the car was only making 15psi even though he uses a chip that makes 19psi. I told him the valve was bad and then told me that it was a new TT 225 BPV. So I took the valve out and put in my TurboX BPV. He then took it out for a run and the 19psi was back. Looks like the TT valve either will not hold over 15 psi or is leaking at anything over 15psi. Juan said the boost gauge would just sit right at 15psi. Is anyone else have this problem with the TT valve too.

This post had a blurb about the condition of my TT valve when I took it out. https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/816523.phtml
Basically, the valve had deteriorated and was sticking open in a weird position. I replaced it with the new-version Forge valve, and immediately got back my boost in 1st and 2nd gears.

I tell ya man...I don't understand where all these valve problems came from.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that it's total bull****...but these cars have been on the road for quite a while and it seems that this whole valve thing is relatively new...say the last year and a half...maybe a bit more. Why don't people in the Saab or Porsche crowds have these same problems, or do they? I bring up those two makes because the valve they use is very similar to the Bosch models that are used in our cars...just diff spring values and such.
The Bailey sucks ***...it's starting to quack like a duck.
The Turbo XS has been prone to leak through the ports...not good.
The Forge has too much stiction and relies heavily on grease to keep moving smoothly.
The greddy crap is almost always used in a blow-off config which is no good...maybe a Greddy recirculating valve would be good? I'm pretty certain that if Greddy designs a valve it's pretty good...they have real engineers on the staff...it's a big company.
I was just about to get the TT N valve too :-(
BTW - I haven't checked my valve with the VAG so it very well may be holding boost...I don't doubt it, but it quacks like a duck when it shuts at part throttle...just annoying. It all started once I chipped...maybe the valve getting slammed shut quicker put the hurt on it?

James R.
