Default Re: water injection systems?

Water injection is just a band-aid for poor tuning. They use it to suppress detonation. With the correct fuel mixture and timing, you shouldn't need this.

Default I guess it depends ...

Both are correct. Tubarao, what type of injection are you thinking about? Cold water over the IC or water in your combustion chamber?

A cold water spray over the IC works, but a good front mount IC should negate the usefulness of this type of spray. Might be better off getting some N20 or compressed C02 before the run. Also, you could potentially drip water over the track .. if that's where you plan on using it.

wj is right. Water injection into the combustion chamber is a band-aid. Proper ignition timing and fuel should fix your mixture problems. If you need water to curb detonation, then you are on the ragged edge of your A/F ratio and should rethink your set-up. Besides, you have to use distilled water with minimal impurities or you will damage you engine.

The only place that I've seen water injection done successfully is the FMAX turbo kit for the Nissan SE-R. Try www.f-max.com (or something like that). They use the Aquamist system from the UK.
