Default Water Leak into Cabin BT: (long)

I have been having problems lately after heavy rains where I would find my driver's side footwell carpeting soaked with water.

At first I thought it was the sunroof drains. I snaked them out (5/16" plastic-coated cable) and pulled the ends of the drain tubes out a little farther.

Still got water in the car.

Tonight I went to a Laser Wash and during that wash I saw a large amount of water trickling in to the footwell above the kickpanel on the left side of the footwell (where the Hood Release Latch is).

I am quite concerned as this is where the fuse panel and other electronics are right in this area.

Any ideas where this water is getting in from?

Thanks.

Check around the ecu box, also make sure the drain under the battery isn't stopped up.

Default I checked under the battery this weekend....

....and could not find any drains other than the small one from the battery that goes into a tight grommet.

I did not pull the battery tray itself but I looked closely and could not see any drains.

Anything in particular to look for around the ECU box? Can the ECU box be loosened up so I can lift it up to look under it?

Thanks.

Default It might be following the hood cable in...?

You're lucky that you have a rough idea of where it is coming in; that's a good start.

Default Under the ECU box is big hole that leads directy into the cabin above the driver's knee bolster.

Several sources of leaks in this area are:
the, already mentioned hood release cable (check the grommet it passes thru for damage; a bad gasket under the ECU box (the box itself has a seal between the top half and bottom half (check this too); plug drain holes in the plenum where the battery is located (pull the battery to find them); poorly placed non-factory wiring that follows the hood release cable rather than going thru one of the spare rubber grommets in the firewall. If you or a PO passed wiring thru the firewall ... I'd look there right after checking the plenum drain holes.

Thanks....I'll look at that too. I'm glad I was finally able to see where the H20 was coming in.

Default Thanks. I did see a couple plugs in the plenumn below the battery...

But they looked intact with no signs of damage.

Thanks for the other suggestions.

Default on the 2.8, from under the car, look between the exhaust (maybe right) directly under the evap

which is behind the dash between HVAC and glove box.

look for a rubber grommet that may direct the water away from the exhaust.

however, if this is happening during rain and washes, it's probably not this. but that's the spot that gets wet if it is. usually it's just full of road debris and has no place to go when the a/c is on.
