Water pump housing leaking coolant 1.8t

I just got back from the dealer to inspect my timing belt and accessory belts as well as investigate a coolant leak I have.
What's the difference from the housing and the water pump? If the housing is leaking wouldn't that mean the water pump is leaking? Are these really two separate units or is the dealer trying to pull a fast one on me. They say the housing is not covered under the powerterrain warranty.
On a side note they tell me that all my belts are ok.
99 1.8t 45,000 miles ... and with a defunct warranty gold plan

Doesn't make sense that the housing would leak, it's more likely that its the gasket.
The housing is just a "Container" to which the waterpump is bolted, between the two should be the factory metal and rubber gasket. If the waterpump was replaced and a paper gasket was used then this could be the cause of the leak.
The only way for the housing to leak is if its cracked.
Either way It should be covered.

So I just called another dealership just to get a better idea on this. I told him that the water pump housing on my 1.8t is leaking and the other dealer said it's not covered under the powertrain warranty. His mechanic said that it's very rare to have just the housing leaking unless it's been hit by something (mine has not been hit). So then I asked if the housing is leaking wouldn't that mean that the water pump isn't working correctly either and should be replaced... and he said yes. Very confusing situation... doesn't help that my warranty is done October 1st. anyone with experience with these water pumps care to chime in?
Attached is also a picture of the area I found to be leaking when I first looked. (top two pictures)

http://cars.sunnygulf.com/waterpump.JPG</a

I tighten the clamp and installed a new one right next to it. The hose seems to be ok. After I put on the clamp I cleaned coolant off the bottom of the oil pan and about a week later it still dripped down there again. If it was the hose I hope the dealer would have told me so. I think I'm going to have to make an appointment with another dealership to have them take a look... but I hate to do that and take time off of work again. (and pay again)

I just took some pictures... if you have any experience with water pumps can you please take a quick look.
I added a clamp to the upper hose a few weeks ago... after looking at some of the high resolution pictures I can't tell if it's leaking from both areas now or just the upper and just dripping onto the lower.

http://cars.sunnygulf.com/waterpump/waterpump.htm</a

The Waterpump usually has a hole below the bearing. Its a "Safety" measure so that if the bearing wears out Coolant will leak so that you know the pump is failing.

I hope it's something as simple as a clamp but it's hard to get at. I'm going to see if I can get some time off of work this week and try a different dealership.

the same problem with my uncle. Last month we have noticed that there was a leak on his housing. The mechanic advice us to replaced the Water Pump Housing. I just want to know if there is still way to know the possible leak on the pump and on the other part to prevent further problems that might result to replacement.
