to get at it, if you're in there doing the timing belt. In other words, it was foolish of them not to do the waterpump while they were in there.

Kinda Shady. On the reciept I got it says that the water pump was done, but its not listed under parts. When I talked to their service advisor, she said that she saw the tech remove the water pump. I talked to the tech today and he said he didn't do the water pump. Oh well. It would have been nice if it was done. Come to think about it, I think they said that they 'checked' it and it didnt need to be done, "saving me some money".

So the fact that it's on the bill means they made a mistake.
As for "checking it"...yeah, they could look underneath to see if it's leaking, and if it's not, it's fine for now. But that's not the point. The point is, it may not last until the next timing belt replacement, so rather than paying 4-5 hours of labor once, you're paying for 4 hours of labor twice (once for the T belt, and once again for the water pump).
Some dealers will quote the entire job and do everything as standard practice (and that's the way they should do it). Some will do the job piecemeal, and only perform the work requested, so if you didn't specifically say "water pump", it wouldn't get done. I had a friend that went through this with his dealer. He ended up leaving the OEM water pump in place, however it failed before the next timing belt change. Kinda sucks when you pay a dealer to do all the work, and you have to redo it later.
