Sands

in our 1998 Passat (I also have a 99.5 1.8TQM -- same drivetrain) after only 19,000 miles -- smelled that tell-tale burning clutch smell last night. My wife and I have always driven manual transmission cars (20+ years each) without ever having a clutch problem (neither of us "rides" the clutch). Anyone have a clutch in an A4 (or Passat) start going so early? VW dealer says the clutch is not covered under warranty.

When I took delivery of my A4, my salesguy told me that everything is covered under the 3yr/50K waranty.He said for example, "if the clutch wears out, because I ride the clutch. It will be covered." Maybe VW has a different policy? Maybe they are full of crap!<p>Cris<br>
