Does anyone else have this problem and if so why is it happening? Whenever I accelerate (not WOT, but a normal everyday acceleration), when I get into second gear, it goes upto about 2700 rpm, at which point it hesitates and the rpm goes down to about 2300 or 2400 rpm momentarily. After this however, it then accelerates up smoothly and operates completely normal. Is this weird or what?

IMO there really isn't much difference between 87 89 and 93 octane gas. I can't tell any performace differences and most investigations that they've done on Dateline and shows like that, show that the performance gains are negligible at best. So I don't think the problem would be due to the gas.
How does the knock sensor work? I've heard this term thrown around a bunch on this forum, but I don't truly understand it very well.

manual. Audi is not telling us to use high octane to waste our money. The engine was designed for high octane and if any knocking is sensed the ECU will retard the ignition to save the engine. The owners manual is the bible; believe it before anything else you hear anywhere.
