Default One big problem with that, he claims it died

while in stop/go traffic so it isn't like he was close to using all the power the car makes.

Might not even be his transmission that died and just something else in the driveline.

Default Mike, you should have guessed that cost isnt the concern on my car, longevity and performance are!

They are expensive - without a doubt, s2 trannys sourced from Europe are only around 2k$, and are almost the same.

Default I dont know where you got that, I thought it was very easy! Expensive yes, hard no!

But then again I dont know how hands on many of you are. It didnt present a problem, and I have changed one out x 2 in one day. Need a diff. subframe, need new s4 linkage and JHM pieces, need to do some trimming to the driveshaft, but that is about it. All of this is bolts and nuts.

Default Ok so can I throw it into my car

do a few full boost anti-lag 6k rpm clutch dump launchings and see how long it takes before it decides it wants a "time out"?

Default

I thought it was more involved for some reason, maybe it's just the cost.

Default hard is a relative term. if you swapped engines, you could easily swap transmissions...

the most i've ever had to do when swapping transmissions is make new bracketry. You can bolt many transmissions in using different subframes, but sometime there is no combination that will work and it is easier to make some brackets (which is generally pretty easy).

Default I didn't do the swap, I could have and would have had not problems doing so if I had time.....

but with my work weeks and 2nd degree I have to put my priorities else where. Next project car is going to be 100% DIY and will not start till I own a house with a garage

Default Launcing at the drags on a surface that has been prepped with VHT

is going to put way more stress on the driveline and clutch then a car that is already rolling.
