Default You should have been part of the recall, they just changed mine last week.

Maybe they already changed yours without lettng you know? I've had the 4 stock CPS, 4 CPs that replaced the stockers, and now 4 more for the recall.

Anyway, congrats on popping Jules (that's her name, right?) cherry. Hope the next 50k goes by better than the last, namely with a big f'ing turbo and lots of track time.

Good luck Jeff. Did you decide on an extended warranty?

Default no warranty. I'm rolling the dice and banking the ~$2k.

After having my '95 90 apart many times, learning a lot from this forum as well as doing a timing belt on this car in the next month or so, a garage with lots of tools, access to a shop with 2 lifts.... I'm hopeful that I can just find OEM parts online and DIY repairs will be less than the warranty.

Honestly, it's been a PITA dealing with dealers. Sure, you can take your car to other shops with the aftermarket warranty, but these places usually will balk when it comes to standing behind you should an inpector want to visual see the car before any major repairs on a car with some moderate mods (to me, probably heavy to them for the average car owner) because the shop wants the money for the repairs and won't do the work unless they know they're going to get paid for it. The last thing I want to do is take my car to a shop, and work gets done through some miscommunication and the warranty won't pay for it and I could've saved money just doing the work myself.

Plus, once we find a house and sell my wife's Wrangler, we're buying an SUV with a warranty (or AllRoad, if I can convince her) for the family car and it'll take on the primary traveling car so that my A4 can stay in the garage more often. Thus, less need for the warranty.

Who knows... if the big turbo thing doesn't work out to my liking, I'll probably sell it because I'm getting bored with it. Once the winter is over, I'll enjoy it for a few months with the StopTechs on, but after that, I need more power or it's going up for sale and part it out.

Sidenote: our Wrangler is back on the road running as new as it did before. $0 out of my pocket. phew!

Default i'm thinking about selling the car...

if i don't go big turbo after warranty. Raj calculated the $$ on my mods and I think I can break even. STI's very tempting...

Default I had 4 failures...

1 is *still* the original cp. #2 has been changed twice. I think it's a J as well as #3 and #4. whatever... they're fine, car works, I have a spare, no need to change 'em.

I did name her Jules, but it just doesn't seem fitting for some reason. probably the first car that I've had that I don't call by a name.

eh, turbo won't be that big, but more than the stock K03, which will keep me happy along with StopTechs. track time keeps me liking this car as well as the winter performance and highway cruising comfort (sans coilovers).

Default after warranty is 50k or 100k?

If 50k, I'll take your winters, if you part out before next winter.

I've driven the STi and it *is* a fun toy car. I'm not sure I could daily drive it, though.
