I had the Arctic Alpins on the C4 A6 wheels on my previous '92 100S, so I "recycled" them over to the Avant.

They get it done in these parts (NW Washington). Superb traction on sqwished snails. Quattro needs a skosh handicap to make it interesting. I would rather have S4 Avus but these don't look too shabby on the car. Going to pick up a pristine set or refinish a set of Avus rims for the next winter.

better than my Summer tires (kumho spt 225/40/18) in poor conditions like snow/ide but are mediocre on dry pavement. I have been repeatedly told they are crappy tires but havent found much about them (reviews or any usefull comparisons). Just how bad are they? I only use them for 2 or 3 months a year so they are barely worn and will last me for a few more years I think.
I've been keeping eye open for specials on actual winter tires but havent seen much. Also am rather broke at the moment...
