Default A4: 195/65/15 Michelin Arctic Alpins on C4 A6 15's, A6: 255/40/17 Dunlop M3's on OEM pieplates

I had the Arctic Alpins on the C4 A6 wheels on my previous '92 100S, so I "recycled" them over to the Avant.

Default Gheezer gets-a-grip with GoodYear M&S Comfortreds

They get it done in these parts (NW Washington). Superb traction on sqwished snails. Quattro needs a skosh handicap to make it interesting. Default 17x7.5" Sport Edition F2/Dunlop Wintersport 3D 225/45/17

I would rather have S4 Avus but these don't look too shabby on the car. Going to pick up a pristine set or refinish a set of Avus rims for the next winter.

Default 205/55/16 Daytona HRs. Came on the stock wheels w/ car. How bad are they? They are significantly

better than my Summer tires (kumho spt 225/40/18) in poor conditions like snow/ide but are mediocre on dry pavement. I have been repeatedly told they are crappy tires but havent found much about them (reviews or any usefull comparisons). Just how bad are they? I only use them for 2 or 3 months a year so they are barely worn and will last me for a few more years I think.

I've been keeping eye open for specials on actual winter tires but havent seen much. Also am rather broke at the moment...

Studded tires not allowed in Illinois anymore. Decades ago they were (early 70's?)
