Wett 1.0 bar chips with a tiptronic? (more)
Has anyone installed a wett chip on their tiptronic? I've read the past forums and there aren't any tales about wett chips on the autos.
Also, there is mention of the effect on boost (15 vs. 7?) and horsepower (200 vs. 150) but what is the difference in 0-60 times and/or top-speed?
Before you flame me for having a tiptronic, understand that I've got city traffic to deal with and was sick of my long commute -- not anymore though! =)
curious
99.5 A4 1.8T Silver&Onyx

I've heard of a few with Tips...
0-60 times aren't as fast as the manuals, of course, but i hear they're in the high seven, low eight range. About the range around a auto 2.8. Not bad, actaully. Considering the stock quattro takes 9.8 or something...hp and boost should be the same, i would guess.
-andrewt

Re: Wett 1.0 bar chips with a tiptronic?I got one
I have the 1.0 bar version in my 98 1.8T w/Tip. The difference is incredable. 200 hp with the Ram Air pannel filter. My boost gague reads a max boost of 15 psi. I love the sound of the turbo.
Silver 98 1.8T Tip
My 0-60 times...
I have a TAP stage 2 chip in my 97 1.8TqAS which means it's a non-tiptronic. I did before and afters and I came up with an average of 10.3 before chip and 8.5 after chip. Again, this is a quattro, automatic. I would think the Tiptronic would result in 1 or 2 tenths better times because you would be able to shift short of the redline. What I mean is once my 1.8 starts getting closer to redline, boost drops significantly. If I had a Tip I would be able to shift around 5800 rpms instead of wasting my time above 6000. Shifting earlier would keep the car up in boost and in the meat of the torque.
Hope I've helped,
George
97 laser red 1.8TqAS TAPII
94 911 Carrera 4 wide-body

Wett 1.0 bar chips with a tiptronic? OH YES!
I just installed my chip over the weekend and all I can say is WHY DID I WAIT THIS LONG! I work in NYC and have a 1 hour commute each way to/from the office. It has made those morning drives THAT much more fun. There has been no change (for now) in my avg MPG and avg speed (they both suck big time: 20.8 MPG, est 30 MPH) but all I can say is that in traffic you won't really notice a difference until you come to a wide open stretch and let loose. I was thinking about a Garrett (from GIAC) Tip chip to improve the shifting speed but I'm having too much fun with my 1.8TQT for now. I'll post observations if I do get the Tip chip though. Oh, and thanks to Kelly @ Wett for the free chip! Wett rules! Really shameless plug, sorry...
Rob 1.8TQT "Wett" who got a speeding ticket within 1 hour of installing the chip

Re: Neuspeed chip with tip
On the subject--I chipped a Passat 1.8t tip with a neuspeed chip--0-60 stock was 9.4 and after chip 7.9--these are with locked brakes starts--quite a bit of wheel spin with stock tires--less with 205-55 potenza's--the Wett should give more than the 1.5 sec improvement I got because of the extra boost. I raced a stock Passat with 5 speed and have a very slight edge on him--so the chip will give you back what the tip takith away.
