I know with VW its 50k or 5 year full warranty and 100k 10 year on the drivetrain correct?

so what is audi's warranty?

just wondering cuz if im in the market to buy an audi a4 1.8t quattro (the last generation... like 96-2001 or whatever) in the next year or so i want to know if i will have to drop mad dough to get things fixed that will break (its a vw/audi product.. dumb things always happen! )

I would get the 99.5 1.8T. It's the best bang for the buck. It has most of the features of the 00+ minus the drive by wire. I think there was only one warranty recall for the 99's but it was only for the early VIN numbers. It really depends on what you are looking for in the car and how much money you want to spend though. I think the 97's are probably the worst year to get the 1.8T overall, but even then I don't think there have been any MAJOR problems with them. Just make sure the control arms are good, the timing belt is changed (if over 60K) and the fluids are all okay. These are the things that went wrong with friends' cars.

Before 2002 (don't know when it started) it had a very short bumper to bumper warranty (something like 24,000 miles i think), but gave a 100,000 mi power train warranty. In 2002 they changed it to 50,000 for both.

The audi warranty depends on the year too. My 2001 has a 50,000 powertrain and 50,000 bumper to bumper. Some earlier years were less, although i don't know what they were
