I have heard from various sources that one should let turbo cooldown before turning off the engine?
What is the benefit? Deos it make a difference whether the A4 1.8T is watercooled or not?
How long should the cool-down period be?

Turbos heat up alot. If you shut off your engine immediately after a hard run, oil sitting in the turbo will be toast! (exagerration) It's like heating up a pan on the stovetop and letting the cooking oil sit there and burn. By idling after a hard run (about 2 mins is good), you'll circulate the oil a little and allow the turbo to cool so oil doesn't coke up on it and clog/damage important turbo components.
