What is the best thing to do with my APR chip for K03?
My son got 97 Audi A4 1.8T and he has APR chip
upgrade to the ECU for K03. The chip is 6mos old
and really nice for K03 but I gave him a K04
for Xmas. He can't send that ECU to GIAC and
for him to buy another ECU will cost a lot of money. What is the best thing to do?
I believe Giac does not accept an ECU with APR
upgrade from K03 right?
Thanks People

If you just got him a K04 turbo, then the right software won't do much more. You need a kit that includes far more than just a turbo. AWE tuning sells a nice K04 kit for the A4 for around $1700. Good luck.

http://www.awe-tuning.com</a

Find someone that is willing to trade you ecu's for a stock one and some cash.
but just like Jon said you will need more then just a chip. But I think you can talk to AWE or DSR to see if you need larger injectors an a 5bar fpr.

You could send them the ECU, and they'll put their own chip on it.
Then they'll send back the APR chip in a nice little box.
On an ECU, the APR chip is worth a couple hundred dollars on the used market. Without the ECU the chip is pretty worthless, since a potential buyer would have to send it to APR anyway to get installed.
If you have a spare ECU, and want the GIAC software on that, you can also run a KO4 with the stock software.
If you only have one ECU, then have a GIAC distributor (AWE for example) remove the APR chip, and install a GIAC chip.

Most of the GIAC dealers will not do that. Since most of the time something goes wrong with the ecu
most of the time the ecu has been over heated when they put the first chip in and then ther is the resistor problem. Since alot of the time apr changes out a resistor on the board.

100% Wrong....
First off the board is not overheated and second of all there is not a resister put on the board. The reason that many may not want to remove a EMCS board is it takes skill to remove it without hurting the circuit board.
