For that matter, what are the correct names for all of the pillars in the A4?

Windshield to front door= A
Front to Rear = B
rear to trunk = C
Avant last pillar = D

Starting at the front of the car, A, B (to answer your 1st question) and C, at the rear.

From front to rear of car:

A-Pillar: The pillar between the windshield and the front doors.
B-Pillar: The pillar between the front and rear doors
C-Pillar: Traditionally, the pillar between the rear doors and the rear window. I think Audi might refer to this as the D-Pillar and the C-Pillar is between the rear doors and the rear quarter windows.
