i qwn a a4 1.8t manual it seems my clutch catches very high to my nderstanding once you let up on the clutch your car should react on saturday i step on the gas let up in the clutch the ****ing car stood still i'm thinking tranny problems it did this for second or two then it picked up right after i smelled this horrible rubber smell this friday i'm taking it to the dealer i already contact my rep and told him if it's a tranny problem be prepared to get me a nre car i'm leasing andi don't want to deal with it i had a acura it had tranny problem so i know the problems and time off of work don't want it. if iwas you i would take it to the dealer my friend best friend was a mechanic for the dealership were i bought the car he remembers the a4 will so minor tranny problems i don'tknow how true it is but it's worth a trip to the dealer.

Default That's not a tranny problem...more...

That's a burnt out clutch. No question it has to be replaced. I had that exact same problem with my car last year. Dealer replaced under warranty. Call them in advance and check if they have the parts. I had to wait for a week since they had to order it in from Germany or something like that. Good luck.

Default Not a whole lot

Well, actually, an unfortunate episode in a snow bank left a smoky smell.

Mecahnically was fine for a few weeks, then poof! Would not engage into any gear.

Clutch was replaced under warranty. Mechanics said it looked like cotton candy! Don't let it happen to you!
