What to do? (Noisy hood)
I have a 2001.5 A4 1.8TQS. When the car is in idle I can hear a semi-loud vibrating sound coming from the front of the car. When I press down lightly on the front of the hood, the noise goes away and I am left with the soft purr of my 1.8T engine. I really do not want to go to the dealer as the car has 55k miles and I will probably get charged out the backside. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself? Any suggestions?

Re: What to do? (Noisy hood)
I believe there are little rubber bumpers/bumpstops (not sure of proper terminology) under the hood at the front of the car at each corner of the hood.
These bumpers are used to adjust the height of the hood slightly to match the level of the fenders top edge.
If you twist them left or right it will raise/lower the level of the hood.
I would think that if you raise the height of these bumpers a little, it will put more tension on the hood and take away some of the noise you may be having.
